RCSD law enforcement, schools heightened concerns amid nationwide surge in school threats

REDWOOD CITY — The Student Threat Assessment team at the San Mateo County Office of Education oversees Level Two Student Threat Assessments across the county. Two detectives from the Redwood Ctiy Police Department are assigned to the team, according to Clements. Since 2017-2018 school year, the Level Two team has handled 151 cases with 22 occurring this year alone, Henricks said. The highest was in 2022 with 41 cases.
