Bethney Bonilla

Bethney Bonilla

Bethney Bonilla is a passionate storyteller, multimedia journalist and content creator. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in 2015 and received her B.A. in Communication Studies, along with a Certificate in Journalism. Before joining the Stanford Journalism Program, she most recently worked as an independent writer for multiple print and online outlets, including The Fresno Bee, and as a production assistant for the documentary film "Freedom For The Wolf" and a local FOX affiliate television program. Bethney acts as literary editor and contributing author for anticipated millennial female empowerment book "Passionistas, Tips, Tales & Tweetables From Women Pursuing Their Dreams." Her professional experience extends to the fields of marketing, public relations and event planning with positions held in both the nonprofit and entertainment sectors. Bethney’s primary reporting interests lie at the intersection of media, technology and social justice, particularly within areas involving misconstrued and underrepresented subjects. She is eager to develop her reporting and multimedia skills at Stanford to foster her interest in using storytelling, digital media and data to produce content that promotes both truth and understanding of complex societal issues. Ultimately, she hopes to enact positive social change and solutions. Originally from Central California, Bethney has also lived in Los Angeles and Europe and has had the pleasure of traveling to enjoy the cultures of over 10 countries.
