Balancing academic endeavors with artistic passions is a struggle for many college students, especially at one of the top universities in the country, Stanford. Junior, Vivian Leilani Shay combines her passion for modern dance with her love for learning and sustainability. Vivian started dancing when she was in first grade, and continued to dance competitively as she grew older, traveling with middle and high school dance teams.
In high school, Vivian completed a summer dance intensive with the Radio City Rockettes. At Stanford, Vivian serves as the dance minor peer advisor, guiding students in their efforts to pursue dance academically and professionally. After graduation next year, Vivian hopes to choreograph musicals on Broadway, and to join the Radio City Rockettes. While working towards a degree in Earth Systems, Vivian also participates in dance performances across campus. Her passion and love for learning shine through in a series of interviews about Vivian’s experience with dance, in college.
