The reflexology of modern journalism

Though the grit and persistence of journalists are more needed than ever, many forces are combining to let the air out of the tires of the business of journalism. For many papers, the old economics don’t work and new models haven’t yet proven successful. At the same time, powerful forces are adding intense pressure to traditional journalism – increased polarization, the rise of “citizen journalists”, and the shortening of the news cycle of by social media.
