Maren joins Stanford from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she is taking a year-out to serve as the “Stanford-NBC News Global Health Media Fellow”. During this unique 1 year fellowship she will split her time between interning in the WHO South East Asia Regional Office in New Delhi, India, taking courses at the Stanford School of Journalism, and working under Dr. Nancy Snyderman in the NBC News Medical Unit. Prior to medical school, Maren graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Health Policy and spent a year working as a medical researcher for “The Dr. Oz Show”. She has written articles that have been featured on Today.com, YahooNews.com, and MyHealthNewsDaily.com, as well as a weekly article for “2 Minute Medicine”, a website that provides simple summaries of the latest scientific studies. At the end of her fellowship she hopes to complete her 4th year of medical school and go on to pursue a career as an Ob-Gyn, while continuing to use journalism and media to educate the public and improve health literacy globally.
