Runners Conquer Through Rain at the Big Sur International Marathon 2025

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. – The 2025 Big Sur International Marathon participants faced challenging weather as they conquered the iconic Highway 1 course on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Despite persistent rain and foggy conditions, about 10,000 runners completed the route for all courses, including the marathon, 11-mile run, 12K run, 5K run and relay events. Around 4,500 participants took on the full 26.2-mile marathon course along Highway 1 from Big Sur Station to Carmel, passing through famous landmarks including the famous Hurricane Point climb and the iconic Bixby Bridge at the halfway mark.
