Screens Down, Spirits Up: Inside San Mateo High School’s Phone-Free Rally

San Mateo High School is a fully phone-free school. Using a Yondr pouch, students have their phone with them at all times, but they are unable to access it. On Friday, Oct. 11, Peninsula Press Hannah Woodworth went behind the scenes at San Mateo High School for its fall pep rally to be immersed in the unplugged environment.

    Hannah Woodworth is a writer and advocate from Huntington Beach, California. Hannah served as the Undergraduate Student Body President at University of Southern California, successfully advancing an equity-centered agenda to expand affordability and wellness initiatives across campus. Hannah also served as a Communication Fellow for two members of Congress on Capitol Hill. While in D.C., Hannah’s work appeared in The Hill, Lohud, The Daily Trojan, Annenberg Media and elsewhere.
