They tried to keep it up, but the efforts were not enough. Menlo Park said a final goodbye to the old Park Theatre on the weekend of Nov. 2-3, with a sale of some items from the building. The place, owned by Howard Crittenden, is about to be demolished.

A crew from Whole House Building Supply, led by Paul Gardner, coordinated the sale and was responsible for trying to save most of the building’s structure. They were able to avoid some pieces of the theatre ending up in the landfill.

Residents also got to keep some objects from the old theatre, like curtains, doors, marquee letters and movie seats.
