After the Sept. 9 PG&E gas-line explosion in San Bruno, the community received an outpouring of state resources and corporate aid. But residents of San Bruno said the efforts of community members — both in the town and throughout the Bay Area — have made the biggest impression. They received volumes of donations that exceeded the capacity of the aid centers set up to receive them, and fundraising efforts continuing even months after the disaster.

In this video, victims, volunteers and city leaders recount acts of heroism on the night of the fire.
